The Shimano SPD PD-A520 pedals have a sleek single-sided design giving great ground-clearance when cornering, but are for use with the mountain bike cleat and mountain bike shoes. So this is a pedal for road bikes, touring, commuting and even gravel bikes that allows you to wear comfortable shoes with the recessed cleat rather than full-on road shoes with the exposed cleats that make you walk like a duck.

Who is this product for? You would like to ride your drop-bar road or commuter to work, the shops or somewhere even further away, you need to be able to walk around when you get there, but you don't want bulky 'mountain bike' pedals on your bike.

The Bicycle Depot Top Technical Tip: This pedal can be used with road shoes if the shoes have the two parallel slots to accept the SPD cleat. Usually there will be a 'floating' inner metal plate in the sole of the shoe to accept the fastening screws of the SPD cleat - if not these can be purchased separately.
